WIMSA now a decade old

We're Women In Media SA remains a steadily active entity, albeit there have been changes through the years including, of course, the cruel covid year of 2020. But, we were up with the larks. We were early birds, formed after WA but before the East. My last WIMSA history post was https://angrypenguin.blogspot.com/2019/ Just to keep our activities on the record. In 2024, after a decade, founding convenor Samela Harris stepped aside, welcoming in three co-convenors - Collette Snowden, Louise Pascale and Laila Ferrier. Growth and changes in the East have made it advisable that we have the expertise and energy of these three extraordinary women. The WIMSA committee has changed quite a bit. It brags an interesting generational diversity with Michelle Wakim, Samoda Silva and Kat Jensen now on board, replacing Kate Hannon. Katie Spain is our new star bringing vivid connections with the famlous SA wine world. Shirley Stott Despoja, a distinguished pioneering feminist SA woman journo, remains WIMSA's chosen State mentor. Her health has made her unable to attend events, but she is saluted nonetheles, Samela at one event, giving a formal speech in her recognition. Through Collette and Arna's influence, UniSA has been a strong sponsor of WIMSA and we continue to mount events at its tech-ready venues.

We have shared ourselves out according to the content and spirit of our events, liaising lovely upmarket deals with some other interesting and on-trend venues.
